Hi there!
Just sharing a (read: ONE) way to solve a problem with the Feed The Beast modpack running out of memory. (NOTE: This might only work if you run a 64 bit operating system.)
The problem:
Feed The Beast running out of memory, even tho you have 4/8/16/XX Gb ram, and the option to adjust memory usage is maxed out at 1Gb.
The solution I found, was to download the correct version of Java. The 64 bit one, not the 32 bit version which you already have.
Simply go to java.com/en/download/manual.jsp , (Direct Link), chose the "Windows Offline (64bit)" version, and install it.
The next time you fire up Feed The Beast, you should have the ability to adjust the memory usage to your liking:
This fixed the problem for me. It might not fix it for you, but it is worth a try.
Enjoy!

Tutorial: Adding texture-packs, normal and hd, to MineCraft.
Hi there again! Been a while since the last post, sorry about that.
This time I will show you how to add texturepacks to your minecraft, hd or not! A texturepack can give this game a whole new life if you get a bit bored with it.
So to get new textures into your game, this is what to do:
Here is how you make it work with a "normal" texturepack:
This time I will show you how to add texturepacks to your minecraft, hd or not! A texturepack can give this game a whole new life if you get a bit bored with it.
Warning: ALWAYS! backup your worlds when messing with the game files. You never know when something goes wrong and you loose your world saves. Don't want those hours/days go to waste!
So to get new textures into your game, this is what to do:
- Download the texturepack you want to use. You can find a texturepack by searching on google, or go directly to sites like minecrafttexturepacks or planetminecraft.
- Locate the folder which you will be placing the texturepack in. This is usually found at the path: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\texturepacks
- If you downloaded a Hd texturepack, you need to download the McPatcher too. Download McPatcher here! (Direct McPatcher link for Windows)
Those 2 or 3 things is all you need to get new textures into your game.
Here is how you make it work with a "normal" texturepack:
- If you downloaded a "normal" texturepack (thats a 16x16 pack), all you need to do is to place the whole download of the texturepack, the whole zip file, NOT unzipped, into the texturepack folder at: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\texturepacks
- After you have done that, start MineCraft, and when on the main menu, press "Texture Packs".
- On the next screen you should see the texturepack you placed in the folder. Just click on it, wait a second or two and click on "Done".
- You should now have the new texturepack working!
- Start an existing or new world to check if it worked! Enjoy!
And here is how you add a Hd texturepack:
- A Hd texturepack got resolutions greater than 16x16. So if you downloded one of those, you also need the McPatcher.
- To start, open the McPatcher.
- You should see something like this:
- Here you just need to make sure the "HD Textures" is checked off, all other is optional, but its best to leave it at default.
- Then click "Patch", let the program work its magic. And when it is done, you can exit the McPatcher.
- Now, all you need to do is to place the whole download of the texturepack, the whole zip file, NOT unzipped, into the texturepack folder at: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\texturepacks
Enjoy!
There you have it! All you need to know about how to add texturepacks in MineCraft.

Tutorial: How to start a LAN world in MineCraft 1.3.1
Hi there!
This is a short tutorial on how to create a world in MineCraft, and opening it up for LAN so that you can play with your friends in your singleplayer world.
To start, open your MineCraft. Go to singleplayer and create a new world, which you probably know how to do, or you can enter one of your existing worlds:
Once you have entered the world, hit Escape, and this screen shoul come up. In this menu, press "Open to LAN".
In the next menu (image below), you can select some options for your LAN world.
Under 1. You can change the gamemode between: Survival, Creative or Adventure.
Under 2. You can turn Cheats On or Off. Cheats are if you want to be able to fly and have unlimited items etc.
Once you have changed the settings to your liking, press "Start LAN World" (3).
Immediately after you pressed "Start LAN World", you should get some text in the lower right corner saying:
"Local game hosted on xxx.xx.xx.xxx:xxxx " (see image). The address is some numbers separated by dot's (.) then a colon (:) and then another number. This is the address that your friends can connect to your game on. All they have to do now is to go to: Multiplayer - Direct Connect. There they enter the address, the whole thingy with dot's and the colon, and press "Join Server".
If you and they did it correctly, you should see them in your world after not so long time!
Enjoy and have FUN!
Not working?
Yes I know it might not be working for everybody, but this might have something to do with your routers firewall configuration or some other technical error. I don't really know how to fix this, but you can try asking other minecrafters over at Minecraftforum.net .
Got any questions? Ask them in the comments!
Texturepack is here Click . More info on tecturepack coming in a later post.
Until next time, have fun and keep on building!
